ETC Control Unit, Task (Except Code 428a Steering Wheel Switch Buttons)

The ETC control unit (N15/3) measures the current operating state of the vehicle and controls all shifting operations taking the ease of shifting and driving situation into consideration. See Fig 1.

It receives input signals as operating data from the :

• Starter Lockout Contact (Y3/6S1)
• Transmission Oil Temperature Sensor (Y3/6B1)
• RPM Sensor 2 (Y3/6N2)
• RPM Sensor 3 (Y3/6N3)

In addition there is a connection to the following via the Controller Area Network bus Class C (engine compartment) (CAN-C):

• Instrument Cluster (A1)
• ME-SFI Control Unit (N3/10) or CDI Control Unit (N3/9)
• Electronic Selector Lever Module Control Unit (N15/5)
• ESP and BAS Control Unit (N47-5)
• EIS [EZS] Control Unit (N73)

The ETC [EGS] control unit takes over the actuation of the solenoid valves for modulating and shift pressure and for shifting gears (N15/3).

The necessary pressure in relation to the torque to be transmitted, is computed from all the input signals.
