Remove/Install Electronic Selector Lever Module: Remove/Install

WARNING: Risk of death caused by vehicle slipping or toppling off of the lifting platform. Align vehicle between the columns of the hydraulic hoist and position the four support plates below the hoist support points specified by the vehicle manufacturer.

1. 1 -  Lift vehicle on lifting platform.
2. 2 -  Unhook shift rod from intermediate lever from below.
   NOTE: Press off retainer using a suitable tool.
   NOTE: Check retainer and bushes for damage and replace if necessary.
3. 3 -  Lower vehicle with lifting platform.
4. 4 -  Remove selector lever handle with cover. See REMOVE/INSTALL SELECTOR LEVER HANDLE WITH COVERING (UP TO 4/30/02)  or REMOVE/INSTALL SELECTOR LEVER HANDLE WITH COVERING (AS OF 5/1/02) .
5. 5 -  Remove center console. See REMOVING & INSTALLING CENTER CONSOLE
6. 6 -  Remove ignition switch cable (1) from the electronic selector lever module control unit (N15/5). See Fig 1.
   NOTE: Press locking tab (1b) together and push coupling (1c) against the spring force into the electronic selector lever module (N15/5), twist through 90° (right or left) and pull off ignition lock control cable (1).
7. 7 -  Unscrew bolt (4).
   NOTE: When installing, tighten to specification. See TIGHTENING TORQUES FOR FLOOR SHIFT .
8. 8 -  Disconnect plug and socket connection (5).
9. 9 -  Remove electronic selector lever module control unit (N15/5).
10. 10 -  Install in the reverse order.
11. 11 -  Adjust shift rod. See ADJUST SHIFT ROD .
12. 12 -  Connect STAR DIAGNOSIS, read out and erase fault memory. See CONNECT STAR DIAGNOSIS AND READ OUT FAULT MEMORY in GENERAL INFORMATION article.
