Manual Program Selection, Function (722.6 In MODEL 203, 209.3 (Except 209.376) Up To 05/31/03, 211 (Except 211.076) Up To 08/31/03): Notes
S16/5 Using the selector lever and transmission mode switch (<>) of the floor shift is possible to adapt the automatic gearshift sequence to suit specific operating conditions. See Fig 1.
In the forward gears the shift range can, in fact, be changed while driving, but the electronic transmission control (ETC) prevents a shift at an unacceptably high engine speed.
In the "W" (winter program) position of the transmission mode switch (S16/5) a lower overall ratio and, as a result, a lower output moment is available when starting off forwards and when reversing. This allows the vehicle to move off more gently. In addition, the gears are not driven to maximum revs.
