Rear end collision 

In the event of a rear end collision, the restraint systems control unit (N2/7) evaluates the data of the following components:

The following information is also evaluated for recording the situation in the vehicle interior:

Left front seat belt buckle status 

If the left front seat belt buckle restraint systems switch (S68/3) registers that a belt latch is not inserted into the seat belt buckle, then the left front emergency tensioning retractor unit is not actuated.

Right front seat belt buckle status 

If the right front seat belt buckle restraint systems switch (S68/4) registers that a belt latch is not inserted into the seat belt buckle, then the right front emergency tensioning retractor unit is not actuated.

Depending on the severity of the impact and the situation in the vehicle, the following squibs for the corresponding restraint devices are actuated:

  Sidebag Sensor, location/task A53 and A54 GF91.60-P-4016R 
  Driver-side/front passenger frontal acceleration sensor component description B48/1, B48/2 GF91.60-P-4033R
  Supplemental restraint systems control unit, location/task/design N2/7 GF91.60-P-4018R 
  Seat belt buckle switch, location/task S68/3, S68/4 GF91.60-P-4013R 
  Front emergency tensioning retractor, location/ task/design/function   GF91.40-P-4000R
