Location

The steering column module is located on the steering column.

Task

For data exchange the steering column tube module is connected to the chassis CAN and the steering LIN.

Communication between the multifunction steering wheel and steering column tube module takes place between the steering LIN.

The steering column tube module has the following tasks:

Reading in of sensors, pickups and signals
Relaying signals

Reading in of sensors, pickups and signals

The input factors are read in via the following connections:

The following components are read in via a direct line:

Combination switch (S4)
CC [TPM] push button (S40/4) (with code (219) Distronic (DTR) or code (233) DISTRONIC PLUS)
CC [TPM] push button (S40) (without code (219) Distronic (DTR) or without code (233) DISTRONIC PLUS)
steering column adjustment/steering wheel heater switch (S59/1) (with code (443) Steering wheel heater)
via the steering column adjustment switch (S59) (without code (443) steering wheel heater)
Steering angle sensor (N49)
DIRECT SELECT gear selector switch (S16/13)

Steering LIN

The following components are read in via the steering LIN:

Left multifunction steering wheel button group (S110)
Right multifunction steering wheel button group (S111)

Relaying signals

The actuation signals from the corresponding control units are read in by the steering column tube module via the chassis CAN and output via the following lines:

Driver airbag squib 1 (R12/13)
Driver airbag squib 2 (R12/14)
Steering wheel heater electronics (A74) (with code (443) steering wheel heater)

Yellow light-emitting diode, variable speed limiter (S40/4v1) (with code (219) Distronic (DTR) or code (233) DISTRONIC PLUS)
Function illumination of DIRECT SELECT gear selector switch
