NOTES Information on preventing damage to electronic components due to electrostatic discharge   AH54.00-P-0001-01A
1 Read out version coding of the ME-SFI [ME] control unit (N3/10) When replacing ME-SFI [ME] control unit (N3/10)
IMPORTANT Connect up STAR DIAGNOSIS and read data from the ME-SFI [ME] control unit (N3/10) into STAR DIAGNOSIS.
INSTALLATION IMPORTANT Transfer stored data to the new ME-SFI [ME] control unit (N3/10).
 
2 Switch off ignition    
3 Detach ground line from battery   AR54.10-P-0003TX
NOTES Notes on battery   AH54.10-P-0001-01A
4 Remove cover (1)    
5 Remove combination filter (2) and replace if necessary    
REFER TO MAINTENANCE Replace combination filter   AP83.00-P-8384TX
6 Remove bolt (3)    
7 Pull out ME-SFI [ME] control unit (N3/10)    
8 Disconnect connectors (4) on ME-SFI [ME] control unit (N3/10)    
9 Install in the reverse order    
10 Perform sensor rotor adaptation using STAR DIAGNOSIS When replacing ME-SFI [ME] control unit (N3/10)

11 Release transport protection on ME-SFI [ME] control unit (N3/10) When replacing ME-SFI [ME] control unit (N3/10)  
12 Personalize and activate ME-SFI [ME] control unit (N3/10) When replacing ME-SFI [ME] control unit (N3/10)  
DANGER Risk of accident  caused by vehicle starting off by itself when engine is running. Risk of injury  caused by contusions and burns during starting procedure or when working near the engine as it is running Secure vehicle to prevent it from moving by itself.
Wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes.
Do not touch hot or rotating parts.

13 Carry out engine test run
