Instrument cluster, function

Instrument cluster (A1) provides a visual display of all the dynamic and static vehicle states and driver information relating to all the systems fitted to the vehicle:

The instrument cluster (A1) has a multifunction display (A1p13), various display instruments as well as various warning and indicator lamps for a visual display of these states. The instrument cluster (A1) has the warning buzzer (A1h1) as well as the audible turn signal indicator (A1h2) for chimes. For the Controller Area Network bus Class C (engine compartment) (CAN-C) or the Controller Area Network bus Class B (interior) (CAN-B) various signals, e.g. vehicle speed are generated and passed on by the instrument cluster (A1). The required information is passed on to the instrument cluster (A1) from various control units via CAN C or CAN B, except the signal for the airbag indicator and warning lamp (A1e15). This signal is transmitted via a discreet line.

The instrument cluster (A1) displays a warning when the remaining distance or the remaining time to the next service is reached. The instrument cluster (A1) informs the driver about an imminent service appointment or one which has already been overrun in the form of a warning message. Irrespective of this the vehicle user can have displayed in the service menu in certain operating conditions of the vehicle this and other information upon inquiry at the instrument cluster (A1).

The instrument cluster (A1) contains a microprocessor to process the incoming data. The program required for processing the data is stored in an electronic memory module. With the multifunction steering wheel (MFL) various menu items can be actuated using the system selection button (S110s3) and the scroll forward/back button (S110s1).

IMPORTANT Diagnosis takes place via STAR DIAGNOSIS.
