Daytime running lamp actuation, function - GF82.10-P-3005GZ
MODEL 164.1 /8 up to 8.7.07
Shown on model 164.8 without code (849) Spare tire holder/spare tire
Function requirements
- Rotary light switch set to "AUTO".
- "Driving lights switch" function in the instrument cluster set to "Continuous".
- Circuit 61 ON
- Engine speed n > 300 RPM for t > 2 s
(for xenon lamps and high beams)
Function
Daytime running lights refer to the automatic switching-on of the exterior lights as soon as the engine starts to run. The daytime running lights can be activated by the driver using the second control level of the instrument cluster.
It is only possible to deactivate them via the second control level of the instrument cluster when the vehicle is stationary.
In those countries with a statutory daytime running light regulation (coded in the instrument cluster), only the headlamp flasher is permitted in daytime running lights mode, and not the high beams. If the driver has set the daytime running lights himself/herself using the second control level of the instrument cluster, then the headlamp flasher and high beams are permissible.
The daytime running lights have priority over the "auto on/off driving lights" request from the overhead control panel control unit (N70).
Daytime running lights (for and
)
If, with the rotary light switch set to "0" or "AUTO", "Darkness" is not recognized by the rain/light sensor (B38/2), only the low beams are switched on if the daytime running lights function is active.
For
-vehicles (without code (615) Bi-xenon headlamp unit with integrated curve illumination) the halogen low beams are dimmed to a voltage of U = 13 V. The high beams cannot be activated.
As soon as the rain/light sensor recognizes "Darkness", the lamps are switched on as for the other national versions.
Special case:
The high beams can then be activated for
-vehicles.
For
-vehicles with active daytime running lights, the low beams are switched off after the vehicle has been stationary for t = 3 min.
A change in the daytime running lights signal from 0 to 1 in the instrument cluster results in the lights being actuated. The timer is then reset.
Depending on the equipment fitted, the front SAM control unit actuates the following components:
- Standing and parking lamp
- Low beam
- High beams (country-specific)
- Side-marker lamp
- Xenon headlamp supply module
- High beam solenoid (country-specific)
The front SAM control unit forwards the switch-on request via CAN-B to the rear SAM control unit.
Depending on the equipment fitted, the rear SAM control unit actuates the following components:
- Taillights and rear fog light
- Stop lamp
- Taillights, side-marker lamp, parking lights
- License plate lamp, rear-end door
- Taillights for trailer
(for code (550) Trailer hitch)
- License plate lamps for trailer
