Activation

The speech recognition feature of the voice control system (VCS [SBS]) in the voice control system (VCS [SBS]) control unit (N41/3) is activated upon actuation of the VCS [SBS] on button.

Activation is announced to the user through an acoustic signal (audible beep). In addition, the speaker system is activated and playback of the radio and navigation unit (A2/56) or of the COMAND operating, display and controller unit (A40/3) is muted (mute) to ensure the greatest possible fidelity of user voice input. The system is then in the Input mode. The user can interact with the VCS [SBS] through input commands via the hands-free system microphone group (A67b1) in order to control it via the commands entered (voice input).

If there is no immediate input, then the sensitivity of the hands-free system microphone group is increased.

If there still is no entry, the VCS is deactivated after approx. 10 s.

IMPORTANT There are global and local commands for each unit. Global commands can be entered as soon as the SBS [VCS] is active. Local commands are only available in the currently active application.

Accepting call

An incoming call can be accepted via the accept/terminate phone call button (S111s3) on the multifunction steering wheel.

As during activation, muting (mute) of the COMAND controller unit becomes also active here to ensure the greatest possible fidelity of user voice input.

The user can then use the hands-free system microphone group for the accepted call.

Voice output by the VCS [SBS] is accomplished via the speaker system.
