The multifunction steering wheel serves for increasing the active driving safety in road traffic in combination with the instrument cluster (A1). This means that the driver can concentrate on the traffic without distraction when operating various vehicle components such as radio and telephone.

Using the following buttons of the multifunction steering wheel, it is possible, for example, to display various menu levels on the screen of the multifunction display (A1p13) and activate/deactivate various system functions or modify their settings:

• Scroll forward/back button
• System selection button

Functions 

The multifunction steering wheel permits the driver, depending on the equipment, to operate and call up the following base functions (systems) using the system selection button:

• Telephone
• Audio
• Navigation
• Off Road/ compass
• Trip computer
• Vehicle configuration
• Adjustment configuration
• Fault and warning messages (if applicable)

The scroll forward/back button can be used to scroll in forward and backward direction within the selected base function.

Using the button for accepting and terminating a phone call, a call can be accepted or made (lift up) or terminated (put down).

The keys of the + and - button, setting specific functions and volume control can be used to set special functions and to adjust settings as well as to control the volume.

The left fanfare horn (H2) and the right fanfare horn (H2/1) are operated using the impact plate in the multifunction steering wheel.
