Function requirements
- The rear SAM control unit (N10/8) has detected the coupled trailer.
- The vehicle is locked and the anti-theft alarm system activated (for anti-theft alarm system (ATA [EDW]), code 551).
- The rear SAM control unit has detected the activated antitheft alarm system (for anti-theft alarm system (ATA [EDW]), code 551).
Function sequence
The rear SAM control unit cyclically energizes the right and left stop lamp of the trailer via the trailer hitch socket (7-pin) for monitoring.
The electronics of the rear SAM control unit detect a discontinuity in the stop lamp circuit.
The rear SAM control unit evaluates the signal and triggers the acoustic and visual alarm:
- The rear SAM control unit directly actuates the alarm signal horn and illumination devices at the rear of the vehicle for the acoustic and visual alarm.
- Activated via the CAN message from CAN-B, the front SAM control unit (N10) switches on the visual alarm of the illumination devices at the front of the vehicle.
