ENGINES 156, 272, 273, 275, 642, 629 in MODEL 221 up to 31.8.10 with CODE (440) Cruise control as of model year 2009/YoM 08
The cruise control function is part of the driver assistance system and it is integrated into the ESP control unit (N47-5) or into the recuperative braking system control unit (N30/6) (with hybrid).
Cruise control includes the following subfunctions:
- Variable Speed Limiter (except code (494) USA version)
- Permanent Speed Limiter
- Cruise control
Variable and permanent speed limiters are also called SPEEDTRONIC control systems.
Variable Speed Limiter (except code (494) USA version)
The Variable Speed Limiter enables the driver to set a maximum speed ranging from 30 km/h up to the maximum speed for himself.
Permanent Speed Limiter
The Permanent Speed Limiter allows the driver to set (limit) the maximum speed of the vehicle (e.g. for winter tires with a lower permissible maximum speed).
Cruise control
The cruise control allows the driver to maintain a target constant speed, and drive at that speed irrespective of engine load condition and without operating the accelerator pedal.
These subfunctions are described in the following documents:
- Variable Speed Limiter function (except code (494) USA version)
- Permanent speed limiter, function
- Cruise control function
