Permanent speed limiter, function - GF30.30-P-3002LEC

ENGINES 156, 272, 273, 275, 629, 642 in MODEL 221 up to 31.8.10 with CODE (239) Autonomous intelligent cruise control Plus Light as of model year 2010/YoM 09 model refinement package

Function requirements of Permanent Speed Limiter in general

Permanent Speed Limiter, general

The Permanent Speed Limiter (also called SPEEDTRONIC) is an additional function of autonomous intelligent cruise control Plus Light, which is integrated in the radar sensors control unit (SGR) (N62/1).

The Permanent Speed Limiter allows the driver to limit the maximum speed of the vehicle (e.g. for winter tires with a lower permissible maximum speed).

The selected maximum speed is sent from the instrument cluster (A1) via the chassis CAN (CAN E) and central CAN (CAN F) to the radar sensors control unit.

The acceleration/deceleration requests for the vehicle are sent by the radar sensors control unit via the chassis CAN to the CDI control unit (N3/9) (for diesel engines) or ME-SFI [ME] control unit (N3/10) (for gasoline engines) and to the ESP control unitN47-5

A switching request at the automatic transmission is transmitted from the radar sensors control unit via the chassis CAN and drive train CAN (CAN C) to the ETC control unit (N15/3) (for transmission 722.6) or to the electric controller unit (VGS) (Y3/8) (for transmission 722.9).

Function sequence for Permanent Speed Limiter

Engine power is reduced as the vehicle approaches the set maximum speed.

If this is inadequate, the service brake is actuated proportionately and if necessary, the automatic transmission shifts to a lower gear so that the set maximum speed is not exceeded (e.g. in case of steep declivity).

The Permanent Speed Limiter is switched on/off using the LH and RH multifunction steering wheel button group (S110, S111) with the "Settings" menu, menu item "Speed limiting" on the instrument cluster.

The maximum speed can be set in 10 km/h increments from 160 to 240 km/h.

If the Permanent Speed Limiter is switched on, it is activated at the same time and can only be switched off again over the menu in the instrument cluster.

When the Permanent Speed Limiter is activated, the segments on the rim of the electronic speedometer (A1p8) below the selected maximum speed are illuminated and the others remain off. A warning message is displayed in the multifunction display (A1p13) at about 10 km/h under the set maximum speed.

IMPORTANT While the Permanent Speed Limiter is active, the autonomous intelligent cruise control Plus Light or Variable Speed Limiter can be use independently of the set maximum speed, up to a maximum of 200 km/h.
