Terminal status c. 15 is provided by the EIS control unit (N73) to the interior CAN.

Function of adjust steering column, general 

The function of adjust steering column makes possible the adjustment of various positions of the steering column.

Adjust steering column function sequence 

The adjustment of the steering column is requested by operating the steering column adjustment switch (S59) (without code (443) steering wheel heater) or the up/down, fore/aft steering column adjustment switch (S59/1s1) (with code (443) steering wheel heater).

The status of the steering column adjustment switch is read in by the steering column tube module (N80) and provided on the chassis CAN.

The central gateway control unit (N93) passes on the corresponding request via the interior CAN to the front SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/1). The front SAM control unit thereupon actuates the fore/aft steering column motor (M20/1) or the up and down steering column motor (M20/2) directly.

The fore/aft steering column motor or up/down steering column motor are actuated as long as the request exists or until an end stop is reached.
