Function description for dynamic multicontour seat, general
The dynamic multicontour seat (DS [FDS]) combines the advantages of a comfortable multicontour seat with those of a sport seat. Here, a base pressure in the lateral support cushions automatically adjusts the seat's lateral support. The dynamics function enhances the lateral support when cornering. For this, the lateral support is improved during cornering by means of an automatic pressure increase of the lateral support cushions (side bolsters) on the outside of the curve. The inflation intensity can be adjusted using the front central operating unit (A40/9) in 2 stages. This essentially happens as a function of the current vehicle speed and the lateral acceleration.
To prevent any tension in the back during long journeys, the multicontour seat is equipped with a massage (pulse mode) function. As long as the massage function is active, the contour of the 7-layer massage insert is sequentially altered by inflating, maintaining and relieving the pressure. The massage function can be individually set in 4 stages by the rotary pushbutton (A40/9s11). Adherence to the set pressure values as well as the specified pressures of the individual cushion areas is continuously being regulated. The front central operating unit can be used to manually adjust the various air cushions in the dynamic multicontour seat, actuated by the left front dynamic seat control unit (N32/19) or right front dynamic seat control unit (N32/22).
When the pulse function is switched on (massage function), the following are actuated automatically:
- 7 massage air cushion layers, arranged one on top of another in the massage insert.
The dynamic multicontour seat system is available in a version for the left seat and a version for the right seat.
The air supply, required for inflating the seat cushions, is provided by the pneumatic pump for dynamic seat control (M40/1). The adjusted contours can be saved.
Priorities
When several functions are requested at the same time, only the adjustment motion with the highest priority is executed.
Priority 1: Lateral backrest support
Priority 2: Lumbar support
Priority 3: Lateral seat cushion support
Priority 4: Shoulder cushions
Priority 5: Dynamic multicontour seat
Priority 6: Massage function (pulsation or dynamic lumbar support)
PRE-SAFE
In critical situations, the air cushions in the side areas are inflated before the imminent accident in order to provide a favorable seat position and to secure the occupants in their position. For more detailed information refer to the PRE-SAFE system description.
The dynamic multicontour seat system enables the following subfunctions, which are described in separate documents:
- Manually filling/deflating the air cushions on the dynamic seat, function
- Dynamic lateral support at dynamic seat, function
- Position storage of dynamic seat with memory, function
- Massage function for dynamic seat, function
