Rear emergency tensioning retractor location The ETR units are below the rear seats on the transmission tunnel.
Rear emergency tensioning retractor task If a head on or rear end collision occurs, the ETR takes up the seat belt slack and prevents the film reel effect of the seat belt. The tightened belt gives the passenger better protection from injury.
Rear emergency tensioning retractor, design   GF91.40-P-4001-03Q
Rear emergency tensioning retractor, function If the retractor is activated, the solid propellent is ignited by the ignition squib. A pressure is built up in the cylinder, which moves the plunger. The piston pulls the belt buckle over the cable and the pulley downwards.
