Center shifter console, function - GF27.60-P-5100-04NT

TRANSMISSION 722.9 in MODELS 211, 219

The selector lever is moved and positioned in the shift gate, which is not visible to the driver. All selector lever positions are detected by the electronic selector lever module control unit (N15/5), then coded and sent over the Controller Area Network bus Class C (engine compartment) (CAN-C) to the fully integrated transmission control (VGS) control unit (Y3/8n4).

Selector lever positions "P", "R", "N" and "D" are forwarded in parallel to the transmission over CAN-C by means of a mechanical shift rod to the selection range sensor (VGS) (Y3/8s1).

The shift ranges "1", "2", "3", "4", "5" and "6", up to which the fully integrated transmission control (VGS) permits an upshift of the automatic transmission, can be shifted via a sideways movement of the selector lever in selector lever position "D" (touch shift).
