Update Software for the SCR Control Module and Engine Control Module

This Service Campaign has been initiated because Daimler AG (DAG) has determined that, over time, changes in resistance in the AdBlue® tank heater lines may lead to fault entries. A detection of a fault in the heater lines may occur due to an overly sensitive data threshold condition. Dealers will update the software for the SCR Control Module and Engine Control Module to correct this condition at the next workshop visit.

Prior to performing this Service Campaign:

Please check VMI to determine if the vehicle is involved in the Campaign and if it has been previously repaired.
Please review the entire Service Campaign bulletin and follow the repair procedure exactly as described.

Please note that Recall and Service Campaigns do not expire and may also be performed on a vehicle with a vehicle status indicator.

Approximately 12,519 vehicles are affected.

PROCEDURE

NOTE:

Use DAS/Xentry 03/2011 with AddOn 1802 or higher.
Follow the steps exactly as described in DAS/Xentry.
Connect battery charger.

A. MODEL 212, INSTALL SOFTWARE FOR SCR CONTROL MODULE

Connect Star Diagnosis to vehicle.
Install software for SCR control module:
Control units view/SCR Selective Catalytic Reduction/ Adaptations/Control unit programming.

NOTE: Perform service work on other vehicles while the software for the control module is being updated.

B. MODEL 164, 164.8, 251, INSTALL SOFTWARE FOR SCR CONTROL MODULE AND ENGINE CONTROL MODULE

Connect Star Diagnosis to vehicle.
Install software for SCR control module:
Control units /SCR Selective Catalytic Reduction/Adaptations/Control unit programming.
Install software for engine control module:
Control units /CDI6 Common Rail Diesel Injection/Adaptations/Control unit programming.

NOTE: Perform service work on other vehicles while the software for the control modules is being updated.

NOTE: The following allowable labor operation should be used when submitting a warranty claim for this repair:
