Continuous position finding, function with code 530 - GF82.61-P-2002SKU
MODEL 171.4 with CODE (530) COMAND APS USA (with navigation system)
Constant map matching, function
Continuous positioning finding means that the current position of the vehicle is calculated. It is active when the ignition (circuit 15 ON) is switched on, and is carried out by the navigation processor (N41/1).
During the switch-on phase (software is loaded), only the basic position finding is available. When the ignition is switched off (circuit 15R OFF), all important positioning parameters are stored for the duration of the run-on time (approx. 30 min).
The continuous position finding uses the following 3 methods, which complement each other and therefore guarantee extremely accurate and reliable position finding.
- Basic position finding (dead reckoning)
- Map-supported map matching
- GPS satellite location finding
It is possible to enter the vehicle position manually on the COMAND operating, display and control unit (A40/3) This may be useful after the vehicle has been transported (e.g. by ferry or train) or if there was no GPS reception at the start of the journey.
