FUNCTIONAL DEFECTS AFTER INSTALLATION OF UPPER CONTROL PANEL CONTROL UNIT YOM 09/01 IN VEHICLES WITH CODE 806 (START OF SERIES PRODUCTION)

COMPLAINT

After installation of an upper control panel control unit (UCP) modification year 09/1 in vehicles of model series 221 with code 806 (start of series production) and in model series 216 with code 807 (start of series production), the following faults occur:

• PTS switch: Function LED permanently illuminated, function not impaired
• Ambiance illumination in cockpit trim strip nonfunctional
• In the quick test, fault 9049 (incorrect variant of cockpit switch group) and 9050 (incorrect variant of rotary light switch) are current and stored.
• On vehicles from USA and Canada, the "Air recirculation comfort closing" function for the windows and sliding roof via the air recirculation button is nonfunctional.

CAUSE

The UCP evaluates the modification year information of the CGW on the CAN incorrectly and thus, treats the described functions differently than in the year of production startup due to changes in the model refinement.

Affects the following LUs:

1. A 221 905 54 00
2. A 221 905 53 00
3. A 221 905 52 00

REMEDY

Flash UCP with software A 221 902 10 02. Available with DAS release 05/10.
