REMOVINGINSTALLING Remove/install     
DANGER Risk of death  caused by vehicle slipping or toppling off of the lifting platform. Align vehicle between columns of vehicle lift and position four support plates at vehicle lift support points specified by vehicle manufacturer. AS00.00-Z-0010-01A
1 Switch off ignition    
2 Remove air filter housing IMPORTANT On vehicles with 4MATIC, if the right oxygen sensor is removed. AR09.10-P-1150EWS
3 Remove lower engine compartment paneling   AR61.20-P-1105EW
  Remove oxygen sensor (G3/5 or G3/6) downstream of/in catalytic converter     
4 Unclip electrical connector (G3/5x1 or G3/6x1) at bracket and disconnect IMPORTANT On vehicles with 4MATIC, the electrical connector (G3/4x1) of the right oxygen sensor upstream of catalytic (G3/4) and (G3/6x1) right oxygen sensor downstream of catalytic converter (G3/6) is located below the air filter housing in the area of the transmission bell.  
5 Unclip electrical feed line of oxygen sensor (G3/5 or G3/6) from retaining clip on transmission    
6 Detach oxygen sensor (G3/5 or G3/6) INSTALLATION IMPORTANT Coat thread with heat-resistant lubricant. Ensure correct routing of oxygen sensor lines.

  Remove oxygen sensor (G3/3 or G3/4) upstream of catalytic converter     
7 Unclip electrical connector (G3/3x1 or G3/4x1) at bracket and disconnect IMPORTANT On vehicles with 4MATIC, the electrical connector (G3/4x1) of the oxygen sensor upstream of catalytic converter (G3/4) is located below the air filter housing in the area of the transmission bell.  
8 Unclip electrical feed line of oxygen sensor (G3/3 or G3/4) from retaining clip on transmission    
9 Remove respective catalytic converter   AR49.10-P-7100EW
10 Detach oxygen sensor (G3/3 or G3/4) INSTALLATION IMPORTANT Coat thread with heat-resistant lubricant. Ensure correct routing of oxygen sensor lines.

11 Install in the reverse order    
12 Connect STAR DIAGNOSIS and read out fault memory    
DANGER Risk of accident  caused by vehicle starting off by itself when engine is running. Risk of injury  caused by contusions and burns during starting procedure or when working near the engine as it is running Secure vehicle to prevent it from moving by itself.
Wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes.
Do not touch hot or rotating parts.

13 Test run engine and check exhaust system for leaks
