Remove/install Distronic sensor (DTR) - AR30.30-P-1010GZA

ENGINES 156, 272, 273, 629, 642 in MODEL 164 as of Model Year 2010 with CODE (219) Distronic (DTR) 

ENGINES 272, 273, 642 in MODEL 251 as of Model Year 2010 with CODE (219) Distronic (DTR)

REMOVINGINSTALLING Remove/install     
NOTES Information on preventing damage to electronic components due to electrostatic discharge   AH54.00-P-0001-01A
1 Switch off ignition and remove the transmitter key from the EIS [EZS] control unit IMPORTANT On vehicles with code (889) Keyless Go: Press keyless go start/stop button repeatedly until ignition is switched off. Remove transmitter key from vehicle and keep it at a location beyond its transmission range (at least 2 m).  
2 Remove radiator grille Model 164.1 AR88.40-P-4001GZA
Model 164.8 AR88.40-P-4001GY
Model 251 AR88.40-P-4001RT
3 Unlock and disconnect electrical connector (1) from DTR controller unit (A89)    
4 Detach DTR controller unit (A89) from bracket (2); to do so, unscrew nuts (3)    
5 Install in the reverse order    
6 Perform initialization of DTR controller unit (A89) using STAR DIAGNOSIS Initialization is necessary after:
  • Replacement of or detachment/attachment of the DTR controller unit (A89)
  • Replacement of the steering column tube module (N80)
  • Replacement of yaw rate sensor for lateral and longitudinal acceleration (B24/15)
  • Mechanical damage to the DTR controller unit (A89)
  • Accident repair in front area
  • Alterations on the camber, track width, caster or of the level of the vehicle at the front or rear axle
 
REFER TO SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEMS     AD00.00-P-2000-04A
7 Perform calibration with STAR DIAGNOSIS When replacing DTR controller unit (A89)  
8 Read out fault memory with STAR DIAGNOSIS and erase if necessary
