Model Year 2009-2012
Mercedes-Benz AG ("MBAG"), the manufacturer of Mercedes-Benz vehicles, has determined that on certain Model Year ("MY") 2009-2012 GL-Class, ML-Class, R-Class, and S-Class (164/166, 251, 221 platforms) vehicles, the coding of the engine control unit does not correspond to the specifications as part of the "BlueTEC update" diesel field measure. This could result in the VIN number not being read out from the vehicle. This could affect the vehicle smog check This situation does not have any additional technical implications for the vehicle. MBUSA will conduct an Emission Service Campaign in which an authorized Mercedes-Benz dealer will update the SCN coding for the engine control unit on the affected vehicles.
