Location

The video and radar sensor system control unit is located at the front in the front passenger footwell under the carpet on the device carrier.

Task

The video and radar sensor system control unit is unit that evaluates the short and the long range radar. To do this the video and radar sensor system control unit performs the following tasks:

Reading in of sensors, pickups and signals

The input factors are read in via the following connections:

Low voltage differential signaling line (for code (238) Active Lane Keeping Assist)

The video and radar sensor system control unit receives image data from the multifunction camera (A40/11) via an LVDS line.

Chassis CAN

As an example the video and radar sensor system control unit reads in the following information via the chassis CAN:

The functions that use these signals are described in the individual function descriptions (see block diagram or function schematic).

Vehicle dynamics CAN

The signals from the following component are received via the vehicle dynamics CAN:

The functions that use these signals are described in the individual function descriptions (see block diagram or function schematic).

Sensor CAN

The signals of the following components are received via the sensor CAN:

The functions that use these signals are described in the individual function descriptions (see block diagram or function schematic).

Evaluation of input factors

The input factors are evaluated by the integrated microprocessors and the relevant components are then actuated.

Controlling functions

The video and radar sensor system control unit controls the following functions:

Output of signals

The signals are issued over the following connections:

Chassis CAN

With code (233) DISTRONIC PLUS, the video and radar sensor system control unit transmits the following signal via the chassis CAN:

With code (237) Active blind spot assist, the video and radar sensor system control unit sends the following signals via the chassis CAN:

With code (238) Active lane keeping assist, the video and radar sensor system control unit sends the following signals via the chassis CAN:

The functions that use these signals are described in the individual function descriptions (see block diagram or function schematic).

Vehicle dynamics CAN

With code (233) DISTRONIC PLUS, the video and radar sensor system control unit transmits the following signal via the vehicle dynamics CAN:

For code (237) Active Blind Spot Assist or code (238) Active Lane Keeping Assist the video and radar sensor system control unit transmits the following signals via the dynamics CAN:

The functions that use these signals are described in the individual function descriptions (see block diagram or function schematic).

Sensor CAN

The video and radar sensor system control unit transmits the following signals via the sensor CAN:

The functions that use these signals are described in the individual function descriptions (see block diagram or function schematic).
