Component description for DTR controller unit - GF30.30-P-3210SX
ENGINE 156, 273, 275 in MODEL 216 with CODE (233) Distronic Plus up to Model Year 8
ENGINE 156, 272, 273, 275, 642, 629 in MODEL 221 with CODE (233) Distronic Plus up to Model Year 8
Location
The DTR controller unit is located in the center behind the radiator grille.
Task
The DTR controller unit has the following tasks:
- Actuation, power supply and evaluation of the signals received from the integral long range sensor
- Control of the target evaluation (long range radar)
- Transmission of data for longitudinal directional vehicle control to the radar sensors control unit (SGR) (N62/1)
Design
The DTR radar sensor (long range sensor) and the DTR control unit (long range sensor electronic analysis system) are integrated in the DTR controller unit.
Function
The DTR control unit actuates the long range sensor and evaluates the target data. The data from the long range radar are transmitted by the DISTRONIC control unit via the vehicle dynamics CAN to the radar sensors control unit (for DISTRONIC PLUS longitudinal vehicle control).
Properties of the long range radar:
- Detection range of the radar sensor from 10 m to 150 m
- Divergence of radar beam 9° (sharp focussing)
- 77 GHz radar sensor operating on the pulse Doppler principle for independent measurement of distance and speed
- Fully integrated electronic implementation (high frequency circuits in DTR controller unit)
The radar plate is a radar transparent cover in the radiator grille which is necessary for correct functioning of the DISTRONIC.
Its tasks are as follows:
- Shielding against external effects (such as dirt, ice or insects)
- Ensuring optimal transmission and reception properties of the radar sensor
