DANGER Risk of death  caused by vehicle slipping or toppling off of the lifting platform. Align vehicle between vehicle lift columns and position the four support plates at the vehicle lift support points specified by vehicle manufacturer. AS00.00-Z-0010-01A
DANGER Risk of injury  to skin or eyes from hydraulic fluid spraying out under pressure. Risk of poisoning  from swallowing hydraulic fluid. Depressurize hydraulic system completely before starting any work on it. Wear protective clothing and safety glasses. AS00.00-Z-0013-01A

1 Remove bottom engine compartment paneling MODEL 251 with ENGINE 276 AR61.20-P-1105RT

MODEL 212 with ENGINE 276.9

INSTALLATION IMPORTANT Only mount bottom engine compartment paneling after performing a leak check.

2 Remove poly-V belt MODEL 212 with ENGINE 276.9 AR13.20-P-0001EL

3 Remove tensioner pulley (2) TORQUE SPECIFICATION Screw/bolt, guide pulley to carrier *BA13.25-P-1003-01X 
4 Open cable ties (arrow) MODEL 172 with ENGINE 276
MODEL 204.9, 207 with ENGINE 276.9
MODEL 212 with ENGINE 276
INSTALLATION IMPORTANT Replace cable ties (arrow).
 
5.1 Detach engine compartment/vehicle interior electrical connector (X25/2) MODEL 172 with ENGINE 276
MODEL 212 with ENGINE 276
 
5.2 Disconnect interior and engine wiring harness electrical connector (X26) MODEL 204.9, 207 with ENGINE 276.9  
6 Remove ME-SFI [ME] control unit (N3/10) upward out of the bracket and set aside with electrical lines connected    
NOTES Information on preventing damage to electronic components due to electrostatic discharge AH54.00-P-0001-01A
7 Suction off oil out of power steering expansion reservoir (3) NOTES The area surrounding the separation point should be cleaned thoroughly before opening the hydraulic system.
Even the smallest dirt particles, introduced into the hydraulic components, can lead to malfunctions and a total failure of the hydraulic system.
 
SPECIAL TOOL Hand pump Figure
8 Detach return hose (4) from expansion reservoir (3) IMPORTANT Collect escaping oil with a rag and plug line connections.

9 Unscrew bolt (5) and remove pressure line (9) from power steering pump (1) IMPORTANT Collect escaping oil with a rag and plug line connections.
INSTALLATION IMPORTANT Replace seal.

10 Detach electrical connection (6) from power steering pump quantity control valve (Y10/1) Only with power steering pumps with quantity control valve.  
11 Unhook vacuum line (7) from expansion reservoir (3) MODEL 172 with ENGINE 276

12 Remove screws/bolts (8) TORQUE SPECIFICATION

13 Remove power steering pump (1) with expansion reservoir (3) from control housing and take out of the engine compartment    
14 Detach expansion reservoir (3) from power steering pump (1) When replacing the power steering pump (1)

15 Install in the reverse order    
16 Fill and bleed power steering pump (1) MODEL 212 with ENGINE 276 AR46.30-P-0010EW
MODEL 172 with ENGINE 276 AR46.30-P-0010V

MODEL 251 with ENGINE 276 AR46.30-P-0010RT
17 Check oil level in expansion reservoir (3) and correct if necessary
