The instrument cluster control unit actuates all the displays in the instrument cluster. The instrument cluster control unit is connected to the network architecture of the vehicle.
To display information, the instrument cluster control unit processes the following information among other things:
- Terminal 15 status
- Fuel supply
- Engine speed
- Coolant temperature
- Outside temperature
- Requests to display system information
- Requests to output warnings
- Information on the on-board electrical system utilization
The instrument cluster control unit processes the incoming information and prepares it to be shown on the instrument cluster.
On vehicles with head-up display, the instrument cluster control unit also prepares the information to be shown on the head-up display. The image data is transfered to the instrument cluster display or to the head-up display via high speed video link (HSVL).
