Location
The PSM control unit is located in the driver seat box.
The PSM control unit is installed on vehicles with code ED5 (Parameterizable special module (PSM)).
Only the electrical connectors for the PSM control unit are installed on vehicles with code ED8 (Parameterizable special module (PSM) preinstallation).
Task
The task of the PSM control unit is to enable body manufacturers (ABH) to access vehicle information as well as to ensure that certain vehicle functions are available.
These vehicle functions can be divided into the following groups:
- Transfer of information from the interior CAN (CAN-B) to the digital outputs of the PSM control unit as well as to the body manufacturer CAN (CAN-ABH). In addition, the CAN-B information is also used internally by the PSM control unit and can e.g. influence the output of CAN-B signals.
- Control of vehicle functions by reading in and processing information that is made available by means of analog and digital inputs, the interior CAN and the ABH-CAN.
- Internal processing of signals in the PSM control unit by means of integrated programmable logic controller (PLC).
- Control of various vehicle functions corresponding to parameterization, as stated in the following as an example:
- Working speed control
- Functions of rotary light switch
- Other functions
