General 

The central control element for the vehicle occupants in the rear passenger compartment is located in the tablet cradle with the tablet PC. The tablet PC can be switched on using the button on the tablet cradle and, for more operational comfort, can be taken out.

Function requirements 

• Circuit 30t, for the tablet cradle
• Receiving WLAN access data from the multimedia system control, for the tablet PC
• WLAN connection to multimedia system control
• Sufficient rechargeable battery capacity or external power supply, for the tablet PC

Location 

The tablet cradle is located between the left and right rear seat.

Functions of the tablet cradle 

The tablet cradle fulfills the following functions:

• Storage of tablet PC
• Charging of tablet PC
• Switching on tablet PC
• Removing tablet PC
• Transferring WLAN access data from the multimedia system control to the tablet PC

When the tablet PC is switched on for the first time, the user is asked to put the tablet PC into the tablet cradle. This establishes an initial connection to the multimedia system control. This is the requirement for WLAN communication with the multimedia system control.

Functions of the tablet PC 

The tablet PC detects swipe movements with one or more fingers and tapping motions on the display. The tablet PC transfers the detected inputs to the head unit as operation signals. Depending on the model and equipment installed, the tablet PC allows operation of the following functions:

• Remote control for multimedia system control
• Remote control for Rear Seat Entertainment system
• Multimedia system media player
• Media player of Rear Seat Entertainment System
• Child protection function
• Tone settings
• Volume settings
• Telephony
• Ambiance illumination
• Climate control
• Roller sun blinds
• Seat adjustment
• Seat climate control
• Multicontour seat, massage programs
• Settings for the tablet PC (language, brightness)

Structure of the tablet PC 

The tablet PC uses the Android OS operating program and, in addition to the arithmetic unit and touchscreen, has the following equipment:

• WLAN interface
• ON/OFF button
• Volume adjustment button
• Main menu button
• USB port for charging and for transferring access data via the tablet cradle (USB 3.1, type C)
• SD card slot (under cover)
• Microphone
• Camera

The SD card slot, microphone and camera are not required for the Mercedes-Benz application. When leaving the Mercedes-Benz application, the tablet PC can be used like a commercially available entertainment electronics device.
