Location

The fuel pump with fill level sensor is integrated in the fuel tank.

Task

The fuel pump with fill level sensor serves to make fuel available at an adequate quantity and at the required pressure or the high-pressure pump.

IMPORTANT Actuation of the fuel pump with fill level sensor takes place for vehicles with engine 642 over the fuel pump relay (K40/9k3), for vehicles with engine 642 over the FSCU (N118/5).

Body

The fuel pump with fill level sensor is a single-stage positive-displacement pump. A fuel strainer is installed at the bottom as a coarse filter for the feed from the fuel pump with fill level sensor.

Function

The fuel pump with fill level sensor draws the fuel from the fuel feed module through a fuel strainer after actuation. The fuel pump with fill level sensor then pumps the suctioned fuel through the fuel filter to the high-pressure pump.

Variants

With code (HZ9) Heater booster diesel, the fuel pump with fill level sensor is fitted with a further fuel connection for fuel supply to the stationary heater and has a high delivery volume.
