Component Description For Tire Pressure Monitor Control Unit - GF40.15-D-5124H
MODEL 906 with CODE RY2 (Tire pressure monitor for front and rear axle)
Shown on model 906.6 up to approx. 01.11.2011
Shown on model 906.6 as of approx. 01.11.2011
Location
On vehicles up to approx. 01.11.2011, the tire pressure monitor (TPM) control unit is under the driver seat; on vehicles as of approx. 01.11.2011, it is at the side of the pedal support.
Networking of components, shown with code (JK3) High-end instrument cluster standard with speedometer in km up to 31.12.2010
Networking of components, shown with code (JK3) High-end instrument cluster standard with speedometer in km up to as of 1.1.2011
Task
The tire pressure monitor (TPM) control unit receives the information from the tire pressure sensors via the following paths:
- Via a radio frequency (RF) line from the front TPM decoder antenna (left front tire pressure sensor and right front tire pressure sensor) (up to 31.12.2010)
- Via a radio signal path from the left front tire pressure sensor and right front tire pressure sensor (as of 1.1.2011)
- Via an RF line from the rear tire pressure monitor decoder antenna (right rear tire pressure sensor and left rear tire pressure sensor)
The tire pressure monitor (TPM) control unit is connected via LIN to the following components:
- Front tire pressure monitor antenna decoder (up to 31.12.2010)
- Rear tire pressure monitor decoder antenna
The front tire pressure sensors each send a data package via the front TPM decoder antenna (up to 31.12.2010) to the tire pressure monitor (TPM) control unit. On vehicles as of 1.1.2011, the front tire pressure sensors send their data packages directly by radio frequency to the receiver unit integrated in the tire pressure monitor (TPM) control unit. The data packages from the rear tire pressure sensors are sent via the rear tire pressure monitor decoder antenna to the tire pressure monitor (TPM) control unit. These data packages are required for assigning tire pressure sensors after system activation.
These include the following information:
- Tire inflation pressure
- Tire interior temperature
- Wheel acceleration
- Individual sensor "ID"
- Condition of sensor battery
The tire pressure monitor (TPM) control unit exchanges data via the interior CAN (CAN B) with the following control units:
- Electronic ignition switch control unit (EIS)
- Instrument cluster
The following information from other systems is processed here:
Electronic ignition switch control unit (EIS)
- Diagnosis
- Steering angle
From the steering angle sensor (N80b1), read in by the steering column tube module control unit, via the engine CAN (CAN C). The signal for the front axle steering angle is used together with the respective rear wheel acceleration values to assign the rear tire pressure sensors.
The following information is issued to other systems:
Instrument cluster
- Actuation of RDK indicator lamp (A1e29)
- The measured tire pressure, on vehicles with code (JK3) High-end instrument cluster standard with speedometer in km
- Information for messages in the display (A1p1)
