Location 

The all-wheel drive control unit is located in the driver seat frame.

Task 

The all-wheel drive control unit receives information from the following components via discrete lines:

The all-wheel drive control unit actuates the all-wheel drive actuator motor by means of a pulse width modulation (PWM) signal via a discrete line.

The all-wheel drive control unit receives information from the following components via the Controller Area Network bus class C (engine compartment) (CAN-C):

The all-wheel drive control unit sends information to the following components via CAN-C:

IMPORTANT If the gear reduction is activated and engaged on vehicles with code (ZG3) Gear reduction for all-wheel drive or on vehicles with code (ZG4) Permanent all-wheel drive with gear reduction, the LOW RANGE indicator lamp (A1e37) is actuated in the instrument cluster.

IMPORTANT On vehicles with code (JK3) High-end instrument cluster standard with speedometer in km and with code (ZG3) Gear reduction for all-wheel drive or code (ZG1) Engageable all-wheel drive, the message announcing that the all-wheel drive has been activated appears in the display (A1p1) of the instrument cluster if the all-wheel drive has been successfully engaged.
