Overview 

This document contains information on the functions, location and structure of the head unit control unit.

General 

The head unit control unit is the central controller unit for the entertainment and communication systems integrated in the vehicle. Depending on the equipment installed, the head unit control unit controls the following functions:

• Multimedia system control
• Radio mode
• Media mode
• TV mode
• Smartphone integration
• Telephone
• Navigation
• WLAN hotspot
• Voice control

The head unit control unit is connected to the network architecture of the vehicle.

Location 

The head unit is located in the instrument panel (e.g. on the driver's side or in the center).

Function requirement 

• Circuit 30t ON

Structure 

The head unit control unit contains the following components depending on the equipment:

• Radio tuner
• TV tuner
• Amplifier
• GPS receiver
• Bluetooth® receiver
• WLAN receiver
