Location
The trailer recognition control unit is located in the right of the luggage compartment behind the wheel well paneling.
Tasks
- Trailer recognition:
By means of current monitoring of the "left turn signal" and "brake lights" outputs the trailer recognition control unit detects whether the supply line of the trailer is plugged in or not.
- Controls the trailer lighting
- Monitoring the ball neck lock:
The trailer recognition control unit monitors the correct position of the ball neck which can be swung mechanically via the trailer hitch locking switch (S142). If the ball neck is not located in a correct position, this is displayed by the flashing of a light-emitting diode in the trailer hitch lock (A63) (in left of luggage compartment). In addition with terminal 15 On a warning message is displayed in the instrument cluster (A1).
- Lamp failure check
- Consumer shutoff:
Request by the onboard electrical system management of the of the rear SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/2).
The shutoff element is located in the trailer recognition control unit.
- Emergency light function:
In the case of a malfunction of the trailer recognition control unit the taillights are switched on with terminal 15 On.
