Location 

The ME-SFI [ME] control unit is located on the left at the air filter housing.

Task 

In combination with the sensors and actuators for the 271 KE engine, the ME control unit controls the engine.

The following systems and functions are controlled and coordinated by the ME-SFI [ME] control unit according to input signals:

The ME control unit communicates with the following control units over the Controller Area Network bus, Class C (engine compartment) (CAN C):

IMPORTANT The EIS control unit serves as an interface between the CAN C and the Controller Area Network bus, class B (interior) (CAN B), thereby allowing the ME control unit to communicate with the following control units:

IMPORTANT The ME control unit has a fault memory which can be read out and deleted with the aid of Star Diagnosis via the 16-pin diagnostic socket (X11). The ME control unit is flashable and codable.
