| 1 | Perform initial startup of steering column tube module (1) | Only when replacing steering column tube module (1). | |

| 2 | Remove steering wheel | AR46.10-P-0100NKB | |
| 3 | Detach steering column tube module (1) from steering column tube until the cover on the steering column tube (4) can be unclipped | ||
| 4 | Unclip covering for steering column tube (4) from steering column tube module (1) | ||
| 5 | Pull steering column tube module (1) off steering column tube | Do not operate the red safety catches in the steering column tube module (1). Otherwise irreparable damage will be caused to the fanfare horns and airbag clock spring contact. |

When installing a new steering column tube module (1) the transportation lock (2) must be broken off once mounted. |

| 6 | Unclip cable duct (6) with electrical line from steering column tube module (1) | ||
| 7 | Separate electrical connection (5) at steering column tube module (1) | AR54.25-P-2802-02CW | |
| 8 | Install in the reverse order | ||
| 9 | Initialize DISTRONIC electric controller unit | MODEL 117, 156, 176, 242, 246 with CODE 239 (DISTRONIC PLUS) After replacing steering column tube module (1). |
