Location
The electronic ignition lock control unit is located on the right, next to the steering column.
Tasks
The electronic ignition lock control unit has the following tasks:
- Central gateway (interface between CAN and chassis FlexRay (Flex E))
- Reading in of signals
- Evaluation of input factors
- Output of signals
- Power supply of the transmitter key (A8/1) and data exchange with the transmitter key
Central gateway (Interface between CAN and chassis FlexRay)
The processor for controlling the central gateway functions acts as the interface between the following CAN and FlexRay buses:
- Interior CAN (CAN B)
- Diagnostic CAN (CAN D)
- User interface CAN (CAN HMI)
- Periphery CAN (CAN PER)
- Chassis FlexRay
Reading in of signals
The input factors are read in via the following connections:
- Direct line
- Interior CAN
- Diagnostic CAN
- User interface CAN
- Peripherals CAN
- Chassis FlexRay
Direct line
The following signals are read in via a direct line:
- Terminal 30
- Circuit 30b (emergency battery supply) (transmission 722.9, 724.2, 725)
- Status of left front door rotary tumbler switch (A85s1) in left front door lock (A85)
- Radio remote central locking signals from the FM 1, AM, CL and KEYLESS-GO antenna amplifier (A2/18) (except with CODE 893 (KEYLESS-GO start function) and CODE 889 (KEYLESS-GO))
- The drive authorization feedback from the electric steering lock control unit (N26/5) (transmission 716)
Interior CAN
The signals are read in by the electronic ignition lock control unit via the interior CAN. The functions that use these signals are described in the individual function descriptions (see the appropriate block diagram or function schematic).
Diagnostic CAN
The signals are read in from the electronic ignition lock control unit via diagnostic CAN. The functions that use these signals are described in the individual function descriptions (see the appropriate block diagram or function schematic).
User interface CAN
The signals are read in from the electronic ignition lock control unit via user interface CAN. The functions that use these signals are described in the individual function descriptions (see the appropriate block diagram or function schematic).
Peripherals CAN
The signals are read in from the electronic ignition lock control unit via periphery CAN. The functions that use these signals are described in the individual function descriptions (see the appropriate block diagram or function schematic).
Chassis FlexRay
The signals are read in from the electronic ignition lock control unit via chassis FlexRay. The functions that use these signals are described in the individual function descriptions (see the appropriate block diagram or function schematic).
Evaluation of input factors
The input factors that have been read in are evaluated by the integrated microprocessor whereupon the relevant signals are then issued
Output of signals
Signals are output via the following lines:
- Direct line
- Interior CAN
- Diagnostic CAN
- User interface CAN
- Peripherals CAN
- Chassis FlexRay
Direct line
The following signals are transmitted via a direct line:
- Circuit 15 to electric steering lock control unit (on transmission 716)
- Drive authorization request to the electric steering lock control unit (for transmission 716)
- Actuation of emergency path (on transmission 722, 724, 725) to intelligent servo module for DIRECT SELECT (A80)
Interior CAN
The signals are transmitted to the electronic ignition lock control unit via the interior CAN. The functions that use these signals are described in the individual function descriptions (see the appropriate block diagram or function schematic).
Diagnostic CAN
The signals are sent from the electronic ignition lock control unit via diagnostic CAN. The functions that use these signals are described in the individual function descriptions (see the appropriate block diagram or function schematic).
User interface CAN
The signals are sent from the electronic ignition lock control unit via user interface CAN. The functions that use these signals are described in the individual function descriptions (see the appropriate block diagram or function schematic).
Peripherals CAN
The signals are sent from the electronic ignition lock control unit via periphery CAN. The functions that use these signals are described in the individual function descriptions (see the appropriate block diagram or function schematic).
Chassis FlexRay
The signals are sent from the electronic ignition lock control unit via chassis FlexRay. The functions that use these signals are described in the individual function descriptions (see the appropriate block diagram or function schematic).
Power supply of transmitter key and data exchange with transmitter key
When the transmitter key is inserted into the electronic ignition lock control unit, it switches on the inductive power transmission for power supply to the transmitter key. Encrypted data is exchanged via infrared signals between the transmitter key and the electronic ignition lock control unit for identification of the transmitter key.
