Location
The steering column tube module control unit is located directly behind the multifunction steering wheel on the steering column tube of the steering column.
Task
The steering column tube module control unit controls the data exchange between the controls on the multifunction steering wheel and the steering column with the corresponding control units.
The steering column tube module control unit is connected to the network architecture of the vehicle.
To implement the functions, the steering column tube module control unit processes information including the following:
- Circuit status
- Engine running status
- Interior temperature
- Displayed outside temperature
- Operation request via multifunction steering wheel
- Steering wheel heater request (vehicles with steering wheel heater)
- Steering wheel heater temperature (vehicles with steering wheel heater)
The steering column tube module control unit processes these input factors and transmits information including the following:
- Status of steering wheel angle sensor
- Steering wheel angle, steering wheel velocity
- Operation request via multifunction steering wheel
- Status of DIRECT SELECT lever (vehicles with transmission 724, 725)
- Status of steering column tube adjustment lever (vehicles with memory package)
- Status of steering wheel heater (vehicles with steering wheel heater)
