| 1 | Remove front seat head restraint guide | AR91.16-P-0050EC | |
| 2 | Unhook cover (1) out of hooks (arrows A) in area of head restraint | ||
| 3 | Carefully pull cover (1) to one side | ||
| 4 | Remove bolts (2) | ||
| 5 | Unclip housing (4.4) from backrest (5) (arrow B) and remove | ||
| 6 | Unclip left Bowden cable (4.3) from backrest (5) (arrow C) | ||
| 7 | Unclip right Bowden cable (4.2) from backrest (5) (arrow D) | ||
| 8 | Unclip backrest release (6) using assembly wedge (7), as shown, at catch hook (arrow E) and pull out of cover frame (3) | Figure | |
| 9 | Unhook top Bowden cable (4.1) out of backrest release (6) (arrow F) | ||
| 10 | Swing out release handle (8) and unhook top Bowden cable (4.1) (arrow G) | ||
| 11 | Remove backrest release (6) | ||
| 12 | Unclip driver seat lumbar support pneumatic pump or front passenger seat lumbar support pneumatic pump at cover frame (3) | On vehicles with code (241) Electrically adjustable front passenger seat with memory function or with code (275) Memory package (driver seat, steering column, mirrors) |

| 13 | Remove screws/bolts (9) from backrest frame (10) | ||
| 14 | Release mounts (arrows K) from catch hooks (arrows N) | ||
| 15 | Pull out cover frame (3) at bottom far enough that cover frame (3) can be slid upward past catch hooks (arrows N) | ||
| 16 | Slide cover frame (3) upward and remove | ||
| 17 | Install in the reverse order |
