Location
The powertrain control unit is mounted in the vehicle interior on the partition to the engine compartment.
Tasks
The powertrain control unit acts as an interface between the ME-SFI control unit (N3/10) and the CAN network and it is responsible for the following tasks:
- Reading in of signals
- Evaluation of input factors
- Output of signals and activation of components
The electronic ignition lock control unit (N73) is the central gateway for exchanging the function-relevant data of the control units that are connected to the various CAN bus systems.
Reading in of signals
The input factors are read in via the following connections:
- Direct line
- Engine CAN (CAN C)
- Drive train CAN (CAN C1)
- Hybrid CAN (CAN L) (with code B01 (48V technology))
- Periphery CAN (CAN PER)
- Suspension FlexRay (Flex E)
- Drive-train LIN (LIN C3)
- Exhaust LIN (LIN C4)
Evaluation of input factors
The input factors that have been read in are evaluated by the integrated microprocessor and the relevant components are then actuated.

The initial parameters are output via the following connections:

- Hybrid CAN (with code B01 (48V technology))
- Peripherals CAN
- Chassis FlexRay
- Drive train LIN
