Location
The fuel feed module is integrated into the fuel tank. The housing with the integrated fuel pump is located at the lowest point of the fuel tank.
Structure
The fuel delivery module consist of the following components:
- Fuel pump (FP)
- Fill level sensor
- Fuel Filter
- Suction jet pump
- Swirl pot
Function
The fuel is drawn in by the fuel pump in the fuel delivery module and then flows through the fuel pressure line and via the connection to the fuel filter. The fuel delivery pressure is regulated by the fuel pump. Fuel that was delivered but is not required flows back into the fuel tank via the return line connection. When the fuel is drawn in through the fuel pump, this created differential pressure in the suction jet pump. In doing so, the suction jet pump permanently delivers fuel from the lowest point of the fuel tank to the swirl pot of the fuel deliver module. This ensures that the fuel tank is emptied on the one hand, and prevents the intake of air through the fuel pump when cornering with a low fuel level on the other hand.
