Structure
An "electronic key" is integrated in the transmitter key. This contains a FM radio transmitter, a computer chip as well as a battery (button cell). The following control elements are also integrated:
- Lock button (1)
- Unlock button (2)
- Trunk lid/tailgate remote unlocking button (3) (vehicles with remote trunk closing or EASY-PACK tailgate)
- Panic alarm button (4) (radio remote control with panic alarm)
- Indicator lamp (5)
Task
The following functions can be operated with the transmitter key:
- Lock/unlock central locking system
- Selective: Driver's door and fuel filler flap or socket flap
- Global: All doors, trunk lids or liftgate and fuel filler flap or socket flap
- KEYLESS-GO start
- KEYLESS-GO (vehicles with KEYLESS-GO)
- Convenience feature
- Trunk lid/tailgate remote unlocking (vehicles with remote trunk closing or EASY-PACK tailgate)
- Panic alarm (radio remote control with panic alarm)
The driver's door can be locked/unlocked with the integrated mechanical emergency key (6).
The transmitter key communicates with the vehicle via a wireless connection.
The transmitter key functions can be deactivated.
The transmitter key monitors the charge level of its battery itself and displays this via the indicator lamp (5).
