Component Description For Sound System Amplifier Control Unit - GF82.62-P-5010GRA
MODEL 166
up to model year 2016
with CODE 811 (Advanced sound system)
Illustrated on model 166.0
Location
On model 166.0, the sound system amplifier control unit in the right rear trunk is located together with the bass speaker amplifier under the footwell trim on a major assembly carrier.
Shown on model 166.8
In model 166.8, the sound system amplifier control unit is located in the trunk on the right under the footwell trim.
Tasks
- Receive signals
- Decoding signals
- Amplification, support and processing of signals
- Transmitting signals
Receive signals
The input signals are read in via the following connections:
- Media Oriented System Transport (MOST)
- Direct lines
Media Oriented System Transport (MOST)
The sound system amplifier control unit is a MOST participant and receives audio signals from the following components:
- Audio unit
- TV digital tuner (A90/3) (with CODE 865 (TV tuner))
- Satellite Digital Audio Radio (SDAR) control unit (N875) (with CODE 536 (SIRIUS satellite radio)) or Digital Audio Broadcasting control unit (N87/3) (with CODE 537 (Digital radio))
- Media interface control unit (N125/1) (with CODE 518 (Media interface))
Direct lines
- Power supply via circuit 31 and circuit 30 via one direct line each
- Audio muting (MUTE) (with CODE 348 (Emergency call/assist system))
- Visual and electrical wake-up
- Signals from sound system microphone (B25/6)
Decoding signals
Decoding copy-protected audio signals on basis of latest Digital Signal Processing (DSP) technology.
DSP means that for the audio range, audio tracks are processed using mathematical algorithms with the objective of improving the acoustic sound characteristics.
Support, amplification and processing of signals
- Supporting surround sound (Bang & Olufsen)
- Supporting 2 stereo entertainment channels and 3 announcement channels (e.g. for voice output of navigation instructions, etc.)
- Amplifying decoded audio signals
- Radio signals
- Vehicle speed signal for speed-dependent volume control (SDV [GAL])
- Signals from sound system microphone for dynamic volume adaptation, dynamic range optimization (DRO)
Transmitting signals
Direct lines
- 5-x line out (+ and -) for bass speaker amplifier
- Remote for the bass speaker amplifier
- Output of signal tones (BEEPs), digital multiple channel output and output of decoded, volume-adapted and amplified audio signals over the following speakers:
- Center instrument panel speaker (H4/27)
- Left rear door tweeter (H4/35)
- Right rear door tweeter (H4/36)
- Left rear surround speaker (H4/62)
- Right rear surround speaker (H4/63)
- Left front door midrange speaker (H4/86)
- Right front door midrange speaker (H4/87)
Function
The sound system amplifier control unit is actuated via the audio equipment. The audio equipment also provides all of the menus for user guidance.
Moreover, the following subfunctions are available:
- Diagnosis
- Software download
Diagnosis
The diagnosis of the sound system amplifier control unit is performed using the Keyword 2000 protocol. All other control units in MOST are also diagnosed via this interface at the same time.
Software download
Updates of the control unit software are transferred from a CD or DVD via the drive of the COMAND controller unit and MOST.
