Reading in of signals

Direct line
The signals from the following components are read via direct lines:
- Left fuel tank fill level indicator sensor (B4/1)
- Right fuel tank fuel level indicator fill level sensor (B4/2)
- Outside temperature sensor (B14)
- Additional battery for ECO start/stop function (G1/13), (with CODE B03 (ECO start/stop function))
- Tank cap central locking actuator (M14/10)
- Exterior lights switch (S1)
- Right front brake wear sensor (S10/2)
- Brake fluid level switch (S11)
- Coolant level switch (S41)
- Windshield washer system washer fluid level switch (S42)
- Right engine hood contact switch (S62/42) (with CODE B03 (ECO start/stop function) and without CODE U60 (Active engine hood (pedestrian protection)))
- Left engine hood contact switch (S62/43) (with CODE 551 (Anti-theft alarm system (ATA [EDW]) and without CODE U60 (Active engine hood (pedestrian protection)))
- Circuit 54, brake light request
- Supplemental Restraint System control unit (N2/10), crash signal
Center console switch LIN
The signals of the following components are read-in over the center console switch LIN:
- Driver seat control unit (N32/1) (without CODE 275 (Memory package))
- Front passenger seat control unit (N32/2) (without CODE P64 (Memory package))
- Lower control panel control unit (N72)
Roof LIN
The signals of the following components are read-in over the roof LIN:
- Inside rear-view mirror (A67) (with CODE 231 (Garage door opener) or CODE 232 (Garage door opener) or CODE 249 (Automatically dimming mirror))
- Rain/light sensor with additional functions (B38/2)
- Overhead control panel control unit (N70)
- Interior temperature sensor with integrated fan (N70b1)
Battery sensor LIN
The signals from the following components are read in via the battery sensor LIN:
- Battery sensor (B95)
- Upper control panel control unit (N72/1)
Interior CAN
The signals are read in by the SAM control unit via the interior CAN. The functions that use these signals are described in the individual function descriptions (see appropriate block diagram or function schematic).
Evaluation of input factors
The input factors that have been read in are evaluated by the integrated microprocessor and the relevant components are then actuated.
Controlling functions
The SAM control unit controls the following functions:
- Energy management
- Exterior lights
- Windshield wiper system and spray nozzle hose heater
- Windshield washer heater (with code 874 (MAGIC VISION CONTROL, heated))
- Seat heater (with CODE 873 (Seat heater for driver and front passenger))
- Seat ventilation (with CODE 401 (Seat climate control for driver and front passenger))

Center console switch LIN
The following components are actuated over the center console switch LIN:
- Driver seat control unit (without code 275 (Memory package))
- Front passenger seat control unit (without CODE P64 (Memory package))
- Lower control panel control unit (with CODE 430 (On & Off-road package))
Roof LIN
The following components are actuated over the roof LIN:
- Inside rear-view mirror (with CODE 231 (Garage door opener) or CODE 232 (Garage door opener) or CODE 249 (Automatically dimming mirror))
- Overhead control panel control unit
Battery sensor LIN
The following component is actuated over the battery sensor LIN:
- Upper control panel control unit
Interior CAN
The signals are transmitted by the SAM control unit via the interior CAN. The functions that use these signals are described in the individual function descriptions (see appropriate block diagram or function schematic).
