Location
The multicontour seat control units are located at the bottom on the backrest frame of the respective seat.
Tasks
The multicontour seat control unit does the following:
- Inflation and deflation of the multicontour seat air cushions
- Saving and adjusting of stored pressure values when the memory function is called up (with CODE 275 (Memory package (driver seat, steering column, mirror)) or CODE P64 (Memory package))
- Shutoff of the respective function if the pressure valve responsible has overheated
- Controlling of the massage function
The tasks are subdivided as follows:
- Reading in of sensors and signals
- Evaluation of input factors
- Actuation of components
Reading in of sensors and signals
The input factors are read in via the following connection:
- Interior CAN (CAN B)
Interior CAN
The following signals are also read in by the multicontour seat control unit over the interior CAN:
- "Massage" request
- PRE-SAFE® adjustment request
- Save/move to memory position request (with CODE 275 (Memory package (driver seat, steering column, mirror)) or CODE P64 (Memory package))
The functions that use these signals are described in the individual function descriptions (see appropriate block diagram or function schematic).
Evaluation of input factors
The input factors read in are evaluated by the multicontour seat control unit. The air cushions of the contour inserts in the seat are actuated by the piezo valves integrated in the multicontour seat control unit.
Actuation of components
The actuation of the components takes place via the following connections:
- Left seat LIN (LIN B18) or right seat LIN (LIN B19)
- Interior CAN
Left seat LIN or right seat LIN
The driver multicontour seat control unit actuates the driver massage function control unit (N32/31) via the left seat LIN.
The front passenger multicontour seat control unit actuates the front passenger massage function control unit (N32/32) over the right seat-LIN.
The air cushions in the seat's contour insert are actuated through piezo valves integrated in the multicontour seat control unit. The air cushions in the massage insert are actuated over each massage function control unit.
Interior CAN
The following signals are also sent by the multicontour seat control unit over the interior CAN:
- Air supply request to multicontour seat pneumatic pump (M40)
- Status of air cushion setting
- "Massage" status

Variants
There are no hardware variants for the multicontour seat control unit. The assignment for driver or front passenger seat and the country or left-hand/right-hand drive vehicle assignment is also coded by the software.
