The ATA [EDW]/tow-away protection/interior protection control unit has the following tasks:

Reading in of signals
Evaluation of input factors
Output of signals
Transmitting and receiving ultrasonic waves (with CODE 882 (Interior monitoring))

Reading in of signals

Signals are read in via the following connections:

Alarm system LIN (LIN B14)
Direct line
Interior CAN (CAN B)

Alarm system LIN

The ATA [EDW]/tow-away protection/interior protection control unit reads in the alarm siren (H3/1) signals (without CODE 494 (USA version)) via the alarm system LIN.

Direct line

On vehicles with CODE 882 (Interior monitoring), the signals from the following components are read in directly via a direct line:

Left rear glass breakage sensor (B39) (on model 292)
Right rear glass breakage sensor (B39/1) (on model 292)
Rear window glass breakage sensor (B39/4) (on model 292)

Interior CAN

The signals are read in by the anti-theft alarm system/emergency call system button group via the interior CAN. The functions that use these signals are described in the individual function descriptions (see the appropriate block diagram or function schematic).

Evaluation of input factors

The input factors that have been read in are evaluated by the integrated microprocessor and the affected components are then actuated.

Output of signals

Components are actuated with the following lines:

Alarm system LIN
Interior CAN

Alarm system LIN

The ATA [EDW]/tow-away protection/interior protection control unit actuates the alarm siren (without CODE 494 (USA version)) via the alarm system LIN.

Interior CAN

The signals are transmitted by the anti-theft alarm system/emergency call system button group via the interior CAN.

Transmitting and receiving ultrasonic waves with CODE 882 (Interior monitoring)

The ATA [EDW]/tow-away protection/interior protection control unit monitors the vehicle interior for movements by sending and receiving ultrasonic waves.
