Model 292
with code 235 (Active Parking Assist with PARKTRONIC)
The name for "Active Parking Assist with PARKTRONIC" has been changed; as of MYJ17/2, the designation will be "Parking Pilot".
The nomenclature change is not taken into account in this documentation.
Shown on model 292
Location
The parking system control unit is located under the rear bench seat on the left side relative to the direction of travel.
Tasks
The parking system control unit has the following tasks:
- Controlling functions
- Reading in of signals
- Evaluation of input factors
- Actuation of components
- Sending signals
Controlling functions
The parking system control unit controls the Active Parking Assist function.
Reading in of signals
The input factors are read in via the following connections:
- Direct line
- Chassis CAN 2 (CAN E2)
Direct line
The signals from the following components are read via direct lines:
- Outer left front parking system distance sensor (B8/1)
- Center left front parking system distance sensor (B8/2)
- Inner left front parking system distance sensor (B8/3)
- Inner right front parking system distance sensor (B8/4)
- Center right front parking system distance sensor (B8/5)
- Outer right front parking system distance sensor (B8/6)
- Outer right rear parking system distance sensor (B8/7)
- Inner right rear parking system distance sensor (B8/8)
- Inner left rear parking system distance sensor (B8/9)
- Outer left rear parking system distance sensor (B8/10)
- Center left rear parking system distance sensor (B8/11)
- Center right rear parking system distance sensor (B8/12)
Chassis CAN 2
The following signals are read in via chassis CAN 2:
- Vehicle speed
- Drive position status
- Data from rain/light sensor with additional function (B38/2)
- Status of parking system button (N72/1s8)
- Status of Electronic Stability Program control unit (N30/4)
- Wheel speeds and wheel rotation direction
- Electric power steering torque sensor (A91 b1) signal (toothed rack position)
- Circuit 15 status
Vehicle speed
- Switch position of combination switch (S4)
- Left multifunction steering wheel button group signal (S110)
- Trailer recognition status (with CODE 550 (Trailer hitch))
- Driver seat belt fastened/unfastened status
- Driver door open/closed status
Evaluation of input factors
The input factors that have been read in are evaluated by the integrated microprocessor and the relevant components are then actuated.
Actuation of components
The following components are actuated via direct lines:
- Front parking system warning display (A44/1)
- Rear parking system warning display (A44/3)
- Parking system distance sensors
Sending signals
The parking system control unit sends the following signals via suspension CAN 2:
- Request to display message or issue warning tone
- Request for parking system status display
- Electric power steering request (steering angle)
- Information on distance to obstacle (remaining distance to obstacle)
The functions that use these signals are described in the individual function descriptions (see block diagram or function schematic).
