Component Description For Coolant Temperature Sensor - GF07.04-D-6040HD
ENGINES 651.955/956/957 in MODEL 906
with CODE (XZ1) Model generation 1
with CODE (MZ0) Blue EFFICIENCY
Location
Illustrated on model 906
The coolant temperature sensor is located in the area around the thermostat housing.
Task
The coolant temperature sensor detects the coolant temperature and transmits a corresponding voltage signal to the CDI control unit (N3/28).
Input and output signals
Direct output signals
- Voltage change on CDI control unit
Design
The coolant temperature sensor consists of a very rapidly responding resistance with negative temperature coefficients (NTC) and a 2-pin plug connection. The lower section of the housing is made of metal.
Function
The NTC resistor integrated in the coolant temperature sensor alters its electrical resistance in line with the coolant temperature. The CDI control unit applies a sensor voltage and evaluates the signal voltage in accordance with the coolant temperature.
The electrical resistance falls for an NTC resistor as the temperature increases.
