Component Description For Intake Air Temperature Sensor - GF07.04-D-6070HD
ENGINES 651.955/957 in MODEL 906
with CODE (XZ1) Model generation 1
with CODE (MZ0) Blue EFFICIENCY
Location
Shown on engine 651.955
The intake air temperature sensor (for model 906) or intake air temperature sensor (B2/8b1) (for model 639) is located in the housing for the hot film MAF sensor.
Task
The intake air temperature sensor detects the intake air temperature and transmits a corresponding voltage signal to the CDI control unit (N3/28).
Input and output signals
Direct output signals
- Change in voltage at the electronics for the hot film MAF sensor
Design
The intake air temperature sensor has a very rapidly responding resistance with negative temperature coefficients (NTC).
Function
The NTC resistor installed in the intake air temperature sensor changes its electrical resistance corresponding to the intake air temperature. The change in voltage is converted in combination with a pull-up resistor (voltage divider) in the CDI control unit into an analog voltage and is available as information about the intake air temperature.
The electrical resistance falls for an NTC resistor as the temperature increases.
