Task

The diesel particulate filter differential pressure sensor detects the exhaust pressure upstream and downstream of the diesel particulate filter (DPF) and determines the pressure differential.

IMPORTANT The CDI control unit (N3/28) uses the pressure differential to determine the soot and ash contents in the DPF for the oxicat diesel particulate filter device.

Design

The diesel particulate filter differential pressure sensor consists of a piezoresistive pressure sensor element, an electronic circuit for signal amplification and a temperature compensation circuit. All components are integrated in a silicon chip. The silicon chip is protected from corrosion by a protective gel and is cast in a plastic housing.

Function

the DPF differential pressure sensor detects the exhaust pressure upstream and downstream of the DPF over the exhaust gas pressure lines upstream and downstream of the DPF and determines the pressure differential.

The upstream and downstream of the DPF acts on the piezoresistive pressure sensor element.

This generates a voltage which is amplified by the integrated silicon chip and sent as a sensor signal to the CDI control unit.
